Olefin Metathesis – a Powerful Synthetic Tool
Olefin metathesis is an exchange reaction between two alkylidene fragments by the scission and regeneration of the carbon-carbon double bonds.
CM= cross-metathesis; HCM= homo-cross-metathesis (homo coupling)

Olefin metathesis is one of the most versatile organic transformations (used in pharmaceutical, polymer, renewable and fine chemical industries) and occupies a central place in the synthesis of complex organic molecules.
The metathesis reaction often creates fewer undesired by-products and hazardous wastes than the alternative organic reactions. Since 1990 ca. 7500 publications, >900 patents appeared and over 76,000 substances were prepared making use of the olefin metathesis.
The primary goal of XiMo’s technology is to provide olefin metathesis catalysts that achieve unparalleled reactivity and selectivity.
